Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. The title of this week’s wrap-up explains everything. Between not writing at all last week. I got the weird kind of sick where I felt buzzed like when you drink, but without out the beer. It was a very good feeling. I don’t think I have to say this, but I will anyway. This post is going to be short.

I already mentioned I didn’t write this past week. That’s what annoys me the most.  My only moment of clarity was posting last week’s Wrap-Up. Now I am really behind on writing so I need to make that up this week. I think I am going to set myself a goal this week. Besides having to write at least four days (hopefully all seven) I need to write at least ten thousand words. I think my current goal on my excel word count tracking sheet is 5k. I will have to check.

The only thing I got done this week was some work on Long Live. To help know what I need to develop, I am trying to nail the story down. To do that I needed to get my main character’s motivations down. I only got two done on Saturday before going to see Power Rangers. My two female protagonists were easy to figure. It was my male protagonist not so much. What I was trying to get done based on what the other two wanted, I just felt like I was trying to force certain things to make him fit better with one of the girls.

When I realized this, I stopped and let stew in the back of my mind. The plan was to work on it on Sunday, but that never happened. Lucky for me I as able to crack him his morning at work around 7 AM. With him done I have only two more main characters to figure out and then it is on to the antagonist’s motivations. Once I have the motivations done, it will be figuring out the outline. I can’t say I will finish the motivations this week, but it is my focus when it comes to Long Live at the moment.

As for the God Multiverse, I am making little strides in. They seem to come in spurts. A piece here another there. I can feel something is brewing. What will it be I am not sure, but I do know it will take some time to fully form. I can’t be surprised, I have been think of my Multiverse as one piece for nearly a year and a half. That is a lot of time for ideas to gestate, I have to at least give this new piece some time to simmer in the cauldron of my mind. I will write down ideas as they come and move from there.

That’s all I got today. I swear when I say these posts are going to be short, they turn out longer than I plan. Oh well. Be sure to check back on Friday for our Weekly Craft Post in our ongoing Worldbuilding series. We are focusing on Magic and Technology. It third to last sub-series in that whole series. Yes. The worldbuilding series is coming to an end. When? Only I know.

Welcome to this week’s Writing Wrap-up. I hope everyone had a good writing week. The latest post in our ongoing series on World Building is up. We just started a new section with the working title Storyworld. The new post is called Planetary System. Due to how long this series is going to be, I put a link in the toolbar above where all the links are. This is so I don’t have to keep posting a lot of links. You can read the latest post, Planetary System. Let’s jump into the wrap-up as I got a lot to do today.

Are you wondering what the title 31,578-89 means? I hope so because those are two very important numbers. Being in the middle of editing draft one of Seeing Through the Veil and writing draft two, I have one major goal. Cut out 90,000 words. I didn’t think I would get close to that in this edit, but after finishings three sections. (Merging two of those sections into one). I am proud to announce that I have cut out 31,578 words.

When I compare sections 1,2, and 4 from the first draft to sections 1 and 2 of draft two, the 144 pages single spaced is now 89 pages. That is 51 pages less. I have been keeping track of how many words I have cut out from each scene but lost count when I tried to figure out how many words I really had cut out after adding new diary scenes at the beginning of each chapter in section 1. After section two only made it more confusing, so I stopped keeping track and waited until I was done with the new section 2 (merger of sections 2 and 4). Now I know.

Progress is being made. I am happy with the progress especially with the change in attitude I have. Near the end of (new) section 2, I was not happy how long it was taking me to read and make the edits. I had a vision for the section and I wanted to get it done. Plus, I was cutting a lot of scenes from (old) section 4 and wanted to know how many words I was cutting. What did I do? Guesses anyone? Yes. I read through the remaining chapters of (old) section 4 making notes and then went through and made the changes. I did all the changes in one day and that day was Thursday.

With the success of that, I have been spending the last few days reading section 3 and doing the same. I just completed the notes last night and will begin making the corrections today. I don’t know if I will get them all done today, but I will by tomorrow. If I keep this pace up, I will have the second draft completed by the end of this month. Actually, I just opened the printed out copy of draft one and opened to section five and it is about halfway through the manuscript. I am going to be making changes so that section will be section six, but glad to see I am half way done.

Beyond that, I am working on the timeline of events in Aeon Timeline 2. I will more than likely have a review of that software up this week, once I finish the changes to section 3. That is going along well. Something I need to get back on is developing Forbidden Realm. I hit a little snag in the scene list for book 3, so to get the ideas flowing again I will return to developing the history of the world. The goal is the same, to start writing book one by the start of July.

That’s all I got today. Keep writing. Check back for my review on Aeon Timeline 2 and the next post in our craft post on Friday’s called The Planet! Also, you can look forward to some changes on the blog, as I am going to spend sometime this week getting caught up on it.

I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this, but it has been eight hours and I am still pumped. After two days of head banging agony, not really, I cracked the outline for book 2, outline for Forbidden Realm. Not did I crack book 2 outline, but starting yesterday around this time and until 3am this morning, I started and completed my a hundred and ninety-seven scene list for the book. Yes, that long. From what I have read over the years on writing the typical novel has a hundred scenes. This mind you is not epic Fantasy. I have ninety-seven. After a hundred and sixty, I was kind of hoping hit two hundred. Oh well. I’ll go more into this tomorrow’s Writing Wrap-up post.

That’s all for now. Gotta started cracking on book 3’s ideas while the juices are flowing.

It’s Monday… Have I ever told you I hate Mondays? No! Really? That’s a surprised, well I have now. Just to clarify I really, really, really, hate Mondays. Why? They are the start of the week. I know our calendars say Sunday is the start of the week, but common. We all know Monday’s are the start of the week. Anyway. Welcome to another addition of Weekly Writing Wrap-Up. For anyone who hasn’t read one of these before, this is my weekly post where I bitch and complain about why I didn’t get what I wanted to get done. Actually, it where I review my progress for the past week. Though there are some weeks when I do bitch about not getting it done.

This week is not one of them, so you picked a good one to start reading. Two weeks ago I started a new writing schedule, one that is built each week around my working hours. Week one, total screw up. Week two, awesome. I got a lot done. Almost all my goals for the week were met. The only one I didn’t get done was write three times this week. I got two. Was going to do it yesterday before work, but thanks to waking up at 3 am and not getting back to sleep until 4:30 am I slept to noon. That one is one me as I forgot to set an alarm.

Other than that, I made a lot of progress on my novel revisions. I  have three chapters left in section one. I have cut out just shy of 10k words, hoping to get close to 12k by the end of it. I worked out three times, develop more of Forbidden Realm history not as much, but more on that in a second. Read three nights before going to bed. Overall, it was a good week.

That leads me to Forbidden Realm. I made progress on the developing that series, but not as much as I would like. So this week, that is going to be more of a priority. Revisions have top priority right now, then will have Developing. I will write three days this week as that is number three to do.

Well, that’s all I got. These wrap-ups are a lot shorter when I get my work done then the weeks I complain about not getting stuff done. Oh well. Check back Friday for the next entry in our ongoing Craft Post Series on World Building. The topic will be one of two either rules or something else. I will be trying to post a link to another article on writing sometime this week as well. Other then that best wishes and hope everyone writing is coming along great.

This week started off on such a high note, and boy did it change quickly. Welcome to this week Writing Wrap-up. I got some work done this week, but not what I wanted to. I am not sure how it happened by I got distracted. Maybe, I should start the beginning. Sure, why not its is as good of a place as any. It was a cold March morning and I was two weeks… Wait, too far back.

Sorry, having a little fun since it is nearly four when I am starting to write this. Damn short bursts of sleep. The week started out good, I got some writing done, and even started to second draft of Seeing Through the Veil. Since I have so many words to cut, I decide to make that my number concern right now. I packed up printed out the first draft and took it to a local coffee place and read the first chapter and made notes on how to shrink it down. The next day, I sat down and made those corrections. Normally, I read through the whole draft before I do. I think because the ideas and changes were so strong in my mind I need to.

Well, it worked. I cut the chapter in half. Down from over 2400 to just slightly over 1200. I will have to go through and reread the chapter, but from what I got from it was more of what I wanted out the chapter. Quick to the point cutting the crap that can be used a backstory if I need it. Also, I added dairy sections before the chapter setting up the big reveal and the hook at the end. It is something I am trying this draft. They are short entries that are going to help with background with either in the chapter or giving some details that on the backstory.

Wednesday, I went right back to the coffee shop and started on chapter 2. The best part of that chapter the whole the first scene of two that is in that chapter is basically going to be the diary entry. Just slimmed down to the points. Also, it is getting rid of all the backstory that I believe is a little too soon to get out. Especially for what is going on. The second scene I figured out how to slim down greatly as well. How many words did I cut out of that chapter you ask? I’ll let you know when I make the changes. Yes, that is when the week took a turn to the distracted.

From Wednesday evening on, I was like a cat whose attention was caught by something shiny moving on the wall and couldn’t get away. After that, I got no writing done. Editing, new words, or developing. I just sat on my ass developing character designs for nothing. I just enjoy doing it, and I am sure at some point they will be used in one of my stories, but not any currently. Guess what, I don’t want to stop. I want to only do that at the moment.

I am fine, because I do enjoy it, but I have too much I need to get done. So, I have decided that I will allow myself to do it or anything I want if I get what I need to get done. Today, when I get back up after I go back to sleep, hopefully soon. My goal is to edit chapter two, write some words for Skylar Grant and get some development done on Forbidden Realm. Not much, just something. If I get all that done, then I can do whatever I want. The best part is, the faster I get it done I can get to it quicker. I may throw in read chapter 3, and most likely will. As I can’t read one day and edit the next as it will take forever for me to get through the draft. I think it is time to break out my weekly schedule update it and start using it since I am at the point where I am writing, editing and developing all at the same time.

I’ll keep you in the loop. Check back on Friday for my Penultament post in the Magic System Series before the wrap up next week. Yes, I already know what I am going to be doing for our next series. No, I am not going to give any hints. Hopefully, I will find an article to repost this week like I did about Scrivener iPad Beta starting this month. If I find some time between everything I need to get done I am going to start filling in some of the links on this blog. No promise I will get to it this week, but it is on the list to start doing. That’s all, hope everyone has a good writing week.
