Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. Before I go any further I realized soon after I posted last week’s wrap-up, I never explained my title of 736205. That was how many days have roughly have passed since January 1st, 0001 CE to last Monday. I am probably wrong, but if you take 2017 x 365 and add how many days have passed since January 1st of this year and that’s what you get. Moving on.

I guess I should go through my goals from last week. Alright. This should be quick. I wrote exactly… Oh, wait I should post what the goals were. Yes, that will buy some time. Writing Goals

Writing Goals: Write 3 days with a $ 75 fine if I didn’t 3 hours of PS4 playtime. Write 3500 words. Stretch Goals: Write 5 days for 4 hours of PS4 playtime reward. 30 mins additional play time for every 500 words over wordcount goal. Development Goals: Spend two days of developing with a reward of 1 hour PS4 playtime. Spend at least one day on Superhero Epic with a $20 spending reward. Read Secret Wars. Stretch Goals: An extra of development with 1 hour of PS4 playtime reward. Write three character motivations for Superhero Epic with 4 hours PS4 playtime reward. Finally, finish Long Live Arcs for the whole book/series earns me 10 hours of PS4 playtime.

That didn’t waste all that much time. What else can I bring up to do just that? Ah! Religion and Politics. So, I don’t know where anyone falls, but if you don’t… Nope, can’t do it. This is about writing and not Politics or religion. Well unless I am talking about Worldbuilding than okay. I guess I have to spill the beans.

I wrote a total of four days…

Ta Dah! Got you. You actually thought I was going to say I didn’t do anything… Wait, you didn’t think that. Okay, I failed as a writer.

Wow! That was a terrible failed joke. Anyway, I wrote four days last week. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to 3500 words. That’s okay because right now I care more about writing every day then word count. Soon, that will change. The real win is that I finally finished Section 3. This is the section I have mostly been working on since I started writing Pyre book 1 of the Forbidden Realm Trilogy. Other than a scene or two in section two. This is where I have been spending my time. I am through it and I love how it came out. To a point. I had to pull a few scenes from section 5 to make the section end on a better note, but I am glad I did.

As of yesterday, Sunday, I am working on Section 4. I forced myself to write solely because it was a new section and was going to be hard to get myself to write at all this week if I didn’t start yesterday. I only plan to write a few words but had an end point where I could stop in the scene that is a good stopping point and can pick up today with relative ease. The goal was only supposed to be two maybe three hundred words, turned into six hundred words. Not bad.

The story is moving forward and I look forward to being away from Taryn for a little while and be dealing with Emily’s section. Hopefully not for nearly another three months. I want to have this book done by September. I didn’t reach any of my writing stretch goals and would have if I didn’t get distracted again on Saturday by my PS4. Oh well and other things.

Development is going strong, beyond reading Secret Wars last night, I didn’t get anything done on my Superhero Epic. I think this is going to be scratched from the goals for now, beyond reading Secret Wars. As for Long Live, I spent three days of Development. One last Monday, and One yesterday actually pushing forward in the last stretches of the story on Outline 2. Still not done with it even after today. I am getting there. I spent I think Tuesday feeding the already arcs into the Scrivener file and making a few tweaks here and there.

My concern over this book not being a single book and being more of a series is ever truer. If you didn’t catch my references above about the finishing the arcs for the entire book/series remark. Well Ha! Yes, the more I work the more I feel it may turn into a series. I don’t want that and while I am still not even close to being able to make that decision, it would be wrong not to voice those concerns. I will look at the possibility once all the arcs are finished from all three outlines and complete the scene list for one book. At that time I feel like I need to break it up into more books I will, or after I write the book I will do that. Not until I can’t deny that it is possible to tell this story in a less condensed way.

No fines this week and with 5 hours of playtime reward, I think I am going to go play some PS4.

Wait! I need to post this week’s goals.

Writing Goals:

  • Write 3 Days (Fine$75. Reward 2 hours of PS4 Playtime)
  • 3500 wordcount

Stretch Goals:

  • Write 5 Days (4 hours of PS4 playtime)
  •  Every 500 words beyond 3500. (30 min additional PS4 Playtime reward)

Development Goals:

  • Spend two days developing. (Reward 1 hour of Ps4 Playtime)
  • Read a few pages from Secret Wars

Stretch Goals:

  • An extra day of developing (1 hour of Ps4 Playtime for each day.)

Note: Playtime is for the week or one really awesome day.

Wow! That’s nothing like it has been. Why are you trying to cheat on the goals this week?

Good question. I am going back to my hometown Friday until next Monday. While I will be able to work on developing, I won’t be able to write. Well, I could, but I don’t like writing on Scrivener App on my iPad. It isn’t the same as being on an actual computer. Also, I am trying to learn programming languages, no not Swift anymore… Well, not now. I am moving more of Web Base languages, solely that is where my background is in. I knew HTML very well years ago before it became HTML 5. If this was just going to be a refresher thing, I wouldn’t change how my goals are working, but it is more of a career thing. I love working for Planet Fitness, and plan to bench up to Assistant and then Manager, how long I will want to do this? I don’t know. Learning programming will give me a viable alternative if I decide I don’t want to do that until I get published and can make a living writing. I need to carve out time to do this. So, that is what I am going to do. Writing and developing are the keys a few days a week. Writing I am still going to be doing every day, eventually. Still building it up slowly.

That’s all I got this week. There will be a Craft Post on Friday, it is scheduled to post one minute after Midnight. Check back then for a post on the First 50 Pages.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. I am posting late, I know. Yesterday was a long day, as was last week. Let’s get right to it.

Writing Goals: Write 4 Days and write 3500 words. The Stretch goals were: Write 6 Days (3 hours of PS4 Playtime) and for every 500 words beyond 350. (30 min additional PS4 Playtime reward). Development goals: Spend two days Developing, Spend at least one day on Superhero Epic, and Read a few pages from Secret Wars. The Stretch goals were: An extra day of development (1 hour of PS4 Playtime for each day), Write three character motivations for Superhero Epic (4 hours of PS4 Playtimes) and Finish Long Live Arcs for the whole book (10 hours of PS4 Playtime).

How did I do this past week? Well, a lot better than I thought. I spent two days of developing, got one character motivation done for my Superhero Epic, and Read from Secret Wars. So, that’s a check on the Development goals. Writing, not so much. Nothing, Diddly Squat, I got nothing Jack. I am not happy about this. We will get to Writing in a second, but I thought for sure I was going have no goals accomplished this past week. Glad to see I did, just not the ones that I really needed to accomplish.

Let’s talk writing. It is so easy to think, I’ll take today off and write tomorrow. Now, this isn’t a bad thing especially when you realize you just can mentally do what is needed from either fatigue or stress or just have a lot to do that day. However, when you say I’ll write tomorrow, you don’t know issues you are going to have tomorrow. That’s what happened this week. Monday, I was tired. Not much sleep. I said sure I’ll write tomorrow and really be sure to hit it. Then Tuesday came and besides oversleeping and then having no time to do anything but eat, drink the coffee and then leave to go work out. That night you get back from work and you’re tired.

That was my week. From being tired to just not sure what I wanted to do and when. Thanks to that, I did nothing all week writing wise. I got my Development out of the way early last week and coasted. This is where someone says that is why you have fines. To be honest, the whole fine’s thing I don’t think is working. I am not getting rid of it just yet. I think I need to find a balance. There are no rewards for accomplishing my goals only fines if I don’t. It’s the stretch goals that I get rewards. I may try a combo of them. Also, they need to be there only when I am not doing what I need to do.

What do I mean you ask? Simple, if I am doing well accomplishing the goals, the fines and rewards don’t need t be attached. If I am not like, this past week, then I need to have them. Maybe I should have rewards going, but only add the fines back only when I have a period like I have been having. It will be a trial and error I think. This week, I am going to put fines on only writing, but not everything. We will get to that. Since I have nothing else to talk about writing, time to move over to Development.

Development went well. I spent a day transferring arcs of Long Live from the notebook to Scrivener. I got behind on this and need to keep doing this. It is helpful reviewing what I have already written down. It is a nice refresher. As for the arcs for Long Live, I am about to finish the last part of Outline 2. I started it Friday but got sidetracked when I realized how tired I was after work, at 2:30 in the afternoon. There was a reason why I slept to 10:30 on Saturday and I wasn’t too happy about that.

Back on topic. I am finally going to be getting to a heart of the story, the really cool part of the story. Not that everything that has happened so far hasn’t been interesting. I just really like the events that happen on Outline 3 a lot. The biggest challenge going forward even after the arcs are complete is that the scene’s list I need to remember to foreshadow what is possible in the later half of the book vs. the not so much in the first half.

Moving to my Superhero Epic, this is tough. Trying to write out the main character’s motivation wasn’t easy. I clearly don’t know him as well as I thought. That will come. Part of it is that I am spending most of my time on Long Live. When I get to a point in that story where I don’t need to really focus as much I will be able to spend more time on this story. It really comes down to that. The first vol. or chapter in the Prelude to Secret Wars was good. Doom kills the Beyonder back during the original Secret Wars and then appears before all the heroes. That’s as far as I got. I look forward to reading more, though the art style is in the style of that story instead of a more modern day art style, which I prefer. I know I will get there. Gotta be patient. I do think

I do think reading some comics will help with the overall story development.

Before I move onto my goals for the week, I happy to say a huge project that is purely a pleasure of mine is over. What is it? I had to rebuild a database for a game I play. It is simulation game that you can create your own style, to say the least. I was playing it when my VMWare Fusion that allows me to run Windows on my iMac crapped out. I was forced to force quit and due to that, the game save was corrupted. Normally there is back up. I did it first thing when I woke up and replaced the database with the game save backup and lost everything. So, I had to rebuild everything. It simple, the game allows you to do this before starting a new game. I have been doing that the last two weeks and it has been very distracting.

Now that I can play again, and made some changes so I don’t have so much to do in the game I can focus. Besides only allowing myself to play on Monday, Friday and the weekends only after I have accomplished parts of my goals, should stop me from being not so productive. Time will tell, but I am sticking to this or I am going to have to give that game up for a while, which I don’t want to do. We shall see.

Note: Playtime is for the week or one really awesome day.

No fines for anything but making sure I write three days. Yes, the fine is high this week. That is to ensure I do it. There will be no reason to cut the fine this week, okay not true. Anything beyond a family emergency or hospitalization or a near death experience. That’s all I got this week. Check back on Friday for the next post in our new series on First Drafts.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-Up. I don’t have much time so this will be short so let’s dive right in.

Starting with Writing, I hit my four days of writing goal. Unfortunately, I didn’t hit five. I could have, but I got distracted Friday on something I am I need to figure out eventually. Time. Yes, how time will work in futuristic sci-fantasy Forbidden Realm Trilogy. Mostly dating purposes. I got wrapped up in trying to figure this out that I didn’t write. Oh well. I think I figured it out. I came across something called UNIX Time. It a time stamp based on how many seconds have passed since January 1st, 1970. I will use this with some tweaks, but the date will be at an important time in my world.

As for writing, it was not easy this week. I didn’t get started until Wednesday and I wrote small chunks of two hundred, five hundred words. Thankfully, Sunday I got 1200 words written. Why was that? I wasn’t feeling good this past week. Also, the scene was another hard scene to write. It was important to the plot but just not easy. Thankfully, I got through that scene and onto what should be easier scenes to write.

Last week I talked about how this section ends with no real conflict, but the conflict happens at the start of the next section for Taryn. Well, I going to add it to this section so I can see how I feel. With only two scenes left, I may leave it alone and depend on how I feel the last scene as it now goes.

Breaking News, I feel like I don’t know all my characters like I should. I don’t know all of this goals or wants. Developing Long Live has really taught me more about characters. I have a stronger grasp on those characters then I do of these characters. Well, not Taryn and Emily. I know them well. It is all the other cast I don’t know anything about, really. My immediate thought is to stop and fix this. However, I am not going to do that. I am going to finish this book and write book 2 and 3. Why?

Well, I need material to write while I develop my multiverse. Second, several key characters don’t show up in the original take on this story, which I still plan to tell. I need to develop them. Since I want to try new ways of writing, I am going to use Brandon Sanderson way. He discovery writes his characters. Yep. While he outlines his story and arcs for his characters he discovers the characters in the first draft. He will try different things in the first few chapters. He is willing to go back and fix things in the early chapters once he grasps the characters. That’s what I am going to do.

Also, I don’t plan on releasing this trilogy anytime soon. More on that in the development.

As for Development this week, I didn’t hit my three days of developing. I got only two days in. Long Live got two days, but really that first day I only posted character arcs for part one into my Scrivener file. Sunday, I got some developing done on both Long Live and my Superhero Epic. Let’s start with Long Live.

Originally I thought this book was going to have three sections made up of three parts each. I know, I was following the three act structure, which I hate. Why? I hate structure. I do well in it, but I hate it. Also, I have read books that you can clearly see they used that structure. I could predict when something was going to happen. Not what would happen, but roughly how many pages. I don’t like it.

Thankfully, that’s not going to work. I broke down section two and got several more sections to cover the events that happen. Now, I can’t say for sure that will be when I am done with the outline and scene list. It is just how it is now. I still mapping things out. Back to what I was getting to. Seeing this, I realize just how not fleshed out my ideas for my middle of this book were when the outline was written. Certain ideas will be wrapped up quicker then I sure I thought they would be, and others that need more brainstorming to make them be as strong as they can.

I got my two main characters four parts of section 2 done. Just like for section one, I will go through all the important characters for that section and map their arc. Something tells me I should map the arc of the characters for the whole book first, but I like doing it this way and then I can do the long version. I mean I already did this when I figured out all the characters motives. For now, I am going to do it by section.

Moving to my Superhero Epic, I started to work on the arcs. I got through two done. This one is hard as well because there is a lot that wasn’t thought out during the outlining of this story either. My thoughts on this are both of these outlines (for Long Live and City at Siege) were done around the same time. Or reworked around same time period. I knew a lot about story and plotting, but it was under the same mind frame was to get it done as fast as you can and not think through it. Now that I have been focusing on the writing part more over the last two years, I can see I need to spend more time thinking about this stuff when I develop future series.

I will because back then I wasn’t doing the scene list which forced me to fill in the gaps between bullets ahead of time. When I was doing a blow by blow bullet outlines it left for now freedom in the writing process, which I need. However, a summary of the scene allows for it. and forces me to think through events. If I did this back when I wrote the outlines for Long Live and City at Siege (Superhero Epic) I would see that I needed more. Maybe in a book format, the outline for City at Siege would have worked, but not for the Web Series.

Lastly, I mentioned above I have plans for publishing Forbidden Realm Trilogy have changed. Yep. In my head, I always thought it would be better if I was able to tell my original story first before releasing this trilogy. As of now, I am going to do that. I mentioned Forbidden Realm as a web series I could write while developing my multiverse. Well, that is what I am going to do. After my Superhero Epic ends.

Anyway, I am making progress on both. Of course, this post is long when I say it will be short. Oh well.

Friday’s our Weekly Craft Post is posted. I will be posting the final two posts in our Worldbuilding series. Why? I don’t want to go into June with only one post. Also, it has been over a year. It’s time to be done with this series and move onto something else. I can’t say exactly when the first post will be up, but both will be up before May ends. I am hoping this week, and maybe I will just post both on Saturday. It all depends on how the week goes.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. It was an interesting week, for me and I met one of my goals for last week. Let’s dive right in.

Let’s start with Development first for a change. This was the goal I meet last week. I wanted to have at least two days of Development for Long Live and my Superhero Epic web series. I got two days, but only my superhero epic was worked on this week. I was able to get through part 3 of the outline I had and collect the bullets that I want to keep and not keep. I kept pretty much every bullet, the ones I didn’t, were merged into others. I even wrote down ideas for flashbacks to help flesh out important the main protagonist turned antagonist turned protagonist. There are many relationships with a few girls who are important to what is going on.

I do want to talk about his origins in this story without being locked into the restricting nature of stories that origins stories have. By the time we meet Cade (that’s his superhero name) he has gone through a lot. I feel it is important that we see how Cade is influenced leading to the events of this story. I am not sure if it will be several flashbacks told throughout the whole story or if I will use it as an arch of the overall story.

If you want to know what I am talking about. Well, you can check out Worm (The link takes you to the table of contents) a web serial. This where I got the idea to do this as a web series. You can see that the story is broken up into arcs. I will be doing something similar. I can’t say it will be 30 arcs and an epilogue. The story will be as long as I feel it needs. Before I go any further, I do plan on having this be the start of my own superhero universe. How many stories will take place in it, I don’t know. I have at least three other stories in mind, plus ideas for a few others. Time will tell.

My next step for this story is now to start breaking up the story into arcs. I know the first part needs more than it is to make the events be what I want. Once I have my arc’s done, it will be developing a scene list for the first two arc’s maybe even the first three.

Moving on to Writing, I wrote four days in a row. But one of those days doesn’t count. What!? I wrote Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Sunday doesn’t count as that was part of the week before. So I didn’t meet my goal of writing four days. I will say it was very fun and easier to write as the week went on. Wednesday was probably the easiest to write. However, I hit another stumbling spot that caused me to stop. I could have continued writing Thursday, as what has me thinking is not my next scene. It’s how I end the section I am in. There is no real conflict. I reveal two people who Taryn is trying to find out and that they leave. She doesn’t get to confront them or even try to stop them.

That comes in Taryn’s next section. So, I am working through if I should move the first few scenes of that section to my current section. I believe it is section three. That way the section will end with some action in a section that is very emotional. I am leaning towards it, but haven fully decided. I will truly make that decision when I get to the last current scene of section three (or whatever number section I am actually on).

I have to say I am feeling a little guilty. This past week I started learning Swift 3. If you don’t know what that is, it is the programming language used in all MacOS and iOS apps. I found the course on Udemy for $10. I have been looking for a class that is actually current not out of date by the time I get the class. Anyway, the instructor says to learn it you need to code every day. So I have, yet I should be writing every day, but I am not. So I feel guilty.

That leads me to this week’s goals.

Weekly Goals:

Writing

  • Write four days this week ($30 fine if not achieved)
    • Write five days this week ($30 spending reward)

Development

  • Develop three days this week
    • Two of those days are on Long Live

There you have it. You have my goals for the week. Once I have my arc’s done for Warlord of New York City, I am going be posting a writing schedule. I have decided while writing this post, that I am going to be writing the next two books of the Veil Trilogy and all three books of Forbidden Realm. They won’t be back to back. Long Live will be placed in there somewhere, as will other arcs for Warlord of New York City. That is something you can look forward to.

That’s all for this week. Check back on Saturday, for the next post in our last sub-series in our year long Worldbuilding series.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. Spring is here and with it finally, comes success. What do I mean by success? You may be thinking am about to announce I signed an agent or a book deal. That would be amazing, but since the only book I have remotely close to being publishable is Draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil, I am going to say no. What I mean is, I am starting to find that groove or sweet spot of writing and developing. Let’s break this up into the two parts, starting with writing.

This week, I wrote 3 days. Yeah, baby! Three days.

I know that might not seem like much, especially since at the end of writing draft two of Seeing Through the Veil, I was writing seven days. However, writing more than one day a week on Pyre book one of Forbidden Realm Trilogy is a great thing. It would have been four, but I got distracted Friday and Saturday. However, I finished the week out yesterday writing a tough scene. More on that in a minute. I wrote over two thousand and one hundred and some odd words. Forgive me for not

Forgive me for not for not having the exact number, I am sorry, I being lazy. I really don’t feel like opening up my excel sheet to find out. Or Scrivener. I am not hitting the five thousand word count goal for the week, yet. I am slowly getting there, but part of the problem.

A Problem you say! Yes. Since I started the new section I have been writing heavily emotional scenes. I am still feeling out my characters, and this being the first draft, not sure of types of things the characters would be thinking. So, I am repeating a lot of the internal thoughts from other scenes. It’s not a bad thing, but at the same time nowhere am I giving new information on them. My next few scenes are going to start answering some of the questions. Sorta. Hopefully, that will help make it a little easier to write.

The other problem is I am not writing back to back days. Well, two of the three I did. Tuesday and Wednesday. If I recall, Wednesday was the easiest to write. Yesterday was damn hard. That’s why I really need to force myself to write back to back days. If I am only going to get three to four days of writing at this point. I would rather have them back to back to make it easier then spread throughout the week.

The last thing on the writing front, is I am thinking of changing up my sections format. Right now the first few sections are based on my two main POV characters. They are apart, so they have their own sections. However, later when they come together, I am not continuing the POV section. I constantly change between the two and other characters. I may try sprucing up the first few sections by changing the between the two by character or have each chapter. Not sure, I think that will be something I look into after I finish the draft.

Okay moving on to development side. I only got one day of development, unfortunately, but it was a big day. Let’s start with Long Live.

I have mapped out the first section and the three parts in the section for all important characters. I know their story arch for that part. I will say I feel like I gutted a lot of the story from the old outline, but really I know in the end it will be much better. I may try to use what I cut later in the book since I had two Thieves Games. Both different, but I may be able to merge them into one for part three.

I am excited because I have a clear look at everyone’s story broken up by characters. I can see where what characters story will make up the majority of the first section. This is good because the few times I have tried to write this story in the past, I have tried to make all characters part deeper and longer than they may have needed. This week, I will focus on section two and maybe section three. Time will tell.

Moving on to my Superhero Epic, I have transferred over my bullets from the old outline from notebook to computer. I can see all the important parts for the main character, secondary heroes secondary plot points, and the main antagonist. This, of course, is from part two outline. I still have part 3 and part 1 outlines to look at. I didn’t include part one when I broke it down, solely I knew the events in that would be a flashback. Either a scene or two or maybe its own arch later on. Part three is the follow up to the hero after the events and finally defeating the antagonist.

My next step beyond going through those outlines is to write out any new ideas. I have a lot of characters who won’t get their own POV scenes. I need to find other ways to flesh them out as well my main hero’s past. Once I have that, I will look start constructing my arch’s. Then scene lists for each arch. I am looking forward to it.

That’s all I got this week. My goals for this week is to try to write four days. I am not ready to put a penalty on not achieving this, but I think this will be my last week. Also, I want to hit two development days. I don’t care if one day is only Long Live and the other is my Superhero Epic. Just two days of development. I gotta wrap this up, so I can write and have some time to play NHL 17, which I haven’t played in two weeks.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. It is May first. You know what that means… Three more days until the fourth, or as we Star Wars geeks like to say May the Fourth Be With You. Okay, that last statement isn’t true at all. No, not the Star Wars geek part. Me being one. I enjoy them, but I am not someone who watches Star Wars every year or month or whenever and how often they do. What the first of May really means it is time for some Spring Cleaning. That’s right, I need to tidy up my workspace and take a fresh look at things.

Let’s get to the book of things, I got little Writing done this week. No, I didn’t hit three days like I planned. Got some news of the death of a family member, this week. So that cut into the week. Please no Sorry for your loss comments or anything like that. I am not very close with my family, but my Mom took it hard. So I had to help her out. I will just have to make it up this week.

Anyway, that brings me to my Spring Cleaning. Not only has my writing suffered since I finished Draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil, but my development has suffered. This time last year I was working hard on developing Forbidden Realm Trilogy and the world it takes place in. However, now I am struggling to do barely any work on my development. Part of it is I have been distracted with another hobby I have. I need to light up on that some and it will give me some more time to work on development.

Part of the reason, I believe this is, is because I haven’t put any deadlines on completing development for my current projects. I knew I wanted to start writing book 1 of Forbidden Realm Trilogy in June. I talking about last year. The second draft of Seeing Through the Veil was taking longer than I wanted. Which affected how much time I put on developing Forbidden Realm near the end. Knowing this, I need to take that all into consideration.

So, part of my spring cleaning, I am going to start setting some dates for the Long Live and my Super Hero Epic (Web Series) that I am currently developing. While I don’t have dates, but by next week I will figure out those deadlines.

Speaking of developing, this week I got some progress on Long Live. I finally got motives for the last of my antagonists done. Which means I now have what I need to start developing the outline for the book. There is a struggle in my head to try to take everything in my old outlines and use it, but I know I can’t. There is a lot of stuff that happened that was to make the book longer and it wasn’t needed. I will have to review the outlines and take notes on what think was filler and what isn’t.

No development on my Super Hero Epic Web Series. I have to take the bullets I mapped out from the old outline and get them on the computer and start figuring out arcs. Also, I need to figure out how to flesh out a lot of character who appear but don’t really get a POV. It will be interesting I will tell you that.

Well, that’s all I got. My goals this week is to write more at least three days and get more than a day of development done on Long Live and the Web Series. I will be posting another Craft Post tomorrow. Hopefully, before I go to work. So check back tomorrow for a post on Manners. Be sure to come back on Friday for my normal Craft Post on the final post in our Penultimate sub-series in our year-long Series on Worldbuilding. The topic is… Education.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. The title of this week’s wrap-up explains everything. Between not writing at all last week. I got the weird kind of sick where I felt buzzed like when you drink, but without out the beer. It was a very good feeling. I don’t think I have to say this, but I will anyway. This post is going to be short.

I already mentioned I didn’t write this past week. That’s what annoys me the most.  My only moment of clarity was posting last week’s Wrap-Up. Now I am really behind on writing so I need to make that up this week. I think I am going to set myself a goal this week. Besides having to write at least four days (hopefully all seven) I need to write at least ten thousand words. I think my current goal on my excel word count tracking sheet is 5k. I will have to check.

The only thing I got done this week was some work on Long Live. To help know what I need to develop, I am trying to nail the story down. To do that I needed to get my main character’s motivations down. I only got two done on Saturday before going to see Power Rangers. My two female protagonists were easy to figure. It was my male protagonist not so much. What I was trying to get done based on what the other two wanted, I just felt like I was trying to force certain things to make him fit better with one of the girls.

When I realized this, I stopped and let stew in the back of my mind. The plan was to work on it on Sunday, but that never happened. Lucky for me I as able to crack him his morning at work around 7 AM. With him done I have only two more main characters to figure out and then it is on to the antagonist’s motivations. Once I have the motivations done, it will be figuring out the outline. I can’t say I will finish the motivations this week, but it is my focus when it comes to Long Live at the moment.

As for the God Multiverse, I am making little strides in. They seem to come in spurts. A piece here another there. I can feel something is brewing. What will it be I am not sure, but I do know it will take some time to fully form. I can’t be surprised, I have been think of my Multiverse as one piece for nearly a year and a half. That is a lot of time for ideas to gestate, I have to at least give this new piece some time to simmer in the cauldron of my mind. I will write down ideas as they come and move from there.

That’s all I got today. I swear when I say these posts are going to be short, they turn out longer than I plan. Oh well. Be sure to check back on Friday for our Weekly Craft Post in our ongoing Worldbuilding series. We are focusing on Magic and Technology. It third to last sub-series in that whole series. Yes. The worldbuilding series is coming to an end. When? Only I know.

Welcome to the last two weeks of Weekly Writing Wrap-up. It has been over two weeks since my last actual post (I don’t count posts that say I won’t be posting something). Why haven’t I been posting? That’s a good question. One, I didn’t do much in those two weeks and had nothing to say. I know me, have nothing to say. Ha! Another reason I wasn’t feeling good. Oversleeping and going through withdraw from my latest soda binge, which really means I had soda and energy drinks for few days and stopped. Not to mention fighting off a cold. Then there was being wiped out mentally.

What do I mean by that? I won’t only once, on the 7th. What should have been a shorter scene turned out to be a longer and harder scene to write. Not sure why it was an emotional scene for my POV character but also a dangerous scene as she needed to get out of a not so safe building. Maybe it should have been split up into two chapters or two scenes. I am not sure. After writing that scene I was mentally beat. All desire to write was gone. So I didn’t write. I have yet to write this week, but I plan to change that, once I finish this post.

Maybe I need a break and let my mind ponder on somethings before I could continue. Who knows, but I still don’t feel like writing. Probably because I am still trying to wake up or still trying to fight off a cold. Whatever the reason is, I need to get back on track. Maybe one of the reasons I am struggling is because I am putting too much pressure on myself to get on a schedule to write multiple books in a year, as well to develop other books when I am not even published. It is something I need to consider. Not worry as much on being on that schedule yet and allow more non-writing activities into my life. Only time will tell.

The most important thing I need to do is keep writing. I have enough projects and at a point where I can be writing consistently now. I can always write book two of the Veil trilogy or book 2 of Forbidden Realm. Hell, I could alway go back to Marks of Eilira… No, no I can’t. That series in a terrible mess. While I can continue to develop my other series I don’t need to have another series ready to go by the time I finish my next book. I have other things I can be writing and editing. Maybe I will lighten my load for a little bit and see how that goes.

As for developing, it is official, Long Live is on the God side of the multiverse. While I am trying to figure out that world, I am going to start hammering out the outline as it’s nagging me now. I even wrote out bullets the other day. I took the key events for the four main characters at the beginning of the book. One issue with the old outline is there are too many things happening before getting right to the main conflict. I should say one of the main conflicts of the book. Once I got a good grasp on the story, that will help developing the world better.

That’s all I got to day. Be sure to check back on Friday as we will be starting a new sub-series in our on going Worldbuilding series. This new sub-series will be on Magic and Technology. I am not sure how many posts will be in this topic. I can tell you there will be only two more sub-series after that. If I had to guess it would be three posts in each. Then we will move on to a new series… a much shorter series.

Welcome to this week’s special edition of Weekly plus a Day Writing Wrap-up. Yes, I am late posting this, solely because of yesterday is a Day I don’t Deal with. What day is that? Can’t tell you because that would be dealing with it. Because I didn’t post yesterday, I counted it as part of last week. So let’s dive in.

Why not start with what this week’s post title is called. A Good Start. Yes, I am referring to writing Pyre (Book 1) of the Forbidden Realm Trilogy. How many days did I write? Well, not as many days as I was writing when I finished draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil, which basically every day. Last week, I wrote three days back to back. No, Monday wasn’t one of them. Why? Well, by the time I get home from work, and that includes a good workout, I am mentally tired. Plus, I need to write this post and that uses up any writing I have in me. Funny, that is also the reason why I didn’t write Friday, oh and I have a podcast I do with a friend. Non-Writing Related or I would be posting it here. So three days is a good start and will build on that.

So, three days is a good start and will build on that. I am still getting back into the swing of things. One the first two days was finishing up a chapter that was way longer then I thought, that was at the end of a section. Thursday was starting a new section so momentum changed as I had a different POV character. I almost wrote Saturday, but I decided to use my weekend for some fun stuff instead. Also, I saw Logan, so that was fun. I have already written today, and I already feel like I have a grasp on the section for this POV Character. The real challenge will be when I switch to another POV in two or three chapters. It will be good practice for later in the book when sections are split between two POV characters the come as needed.

Something I tried with draft 1 of Seeing Through the Veil was writing the two POV character sections separately. What I mean is I wrote all the sections for one POV character first and then went back to the beginning and wrote the others. Never doing that again for a first draft. Maybe in a second or third draft, but never in a first draft. I may try that when I am editing Pyre.

Moving on, I don’t have much progress on the Multiverse, as I spent my time writing. However, yesterday I finally sat down and worked on Long Live only to come to the conclusion that, that book takes place in the God’s Multiverse. Oh and I developed a little of one of the magic systems. Not much just a piece. I have a few ideas from that on how my God Multiverse will work. I plan on doing a little work on that this week, even if it is just writing down the ideas. Long Live will continue as my primary focus, and maybe the key to helping me crack the God Multiverse.

Beyond that, I got nothing. Wow, I didn’t mention that this week would be short and I actually got a short posting instead of saying it is going to be short and it turning out not to be. Oh well. Check back on Friday for the final post in our Military and Law Enforcement sub-series in our ongoing Worldbuilding series. The topic afterward I am playing around with is Magic, but I am not sure if it will be that. If I do, it will be Technology and Magic. That’s the other thing over the next two weeks I want to do is finally plan out the rest of the Worldbuilding series so I have an actual end date. I gotta see what I have left to cover.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. I am posting this one a little later than I planned. Thank you, Dentist. My tooth is bugging the hell out of me right now after getting it filled. Damn novocaine, why did you have to wear off? Anyway, this will be a short one. I think. Let’s dive right in.

Seven Days of… NOTHING! (Insert Readers Gasps Here!) I know right. Who would have guessed that when I said last week I was taking off a few days after completing the Second Draft of Seeing Through the Veil, it would turn out to be the whole week? I certainly didn’t…

Yep, that book is burning to be finished. I had so much fun writing and I am excited to start. However, I am not doing that for at least two more days. I need a break. Let the veil work its way out of my mind and prepare for the new world and magic systems and story. I would like to start by the end of the week, but I may take the whole week. Depends on how I am feeling.

Okay, I did. Oh well. In the long view it’s good I did take the week off. I got my mind free of writing Natalie and Kiana’s voices. I can look forward to writing Emily and Taryn’s voices and the ten other POV characters in the first book. Thankfully, it’s third person instead of first. I need something different at this point. Don’t get me wrong, I love first person POV. However, with so many POV Characters, it’s just easier to do it in the third person. Hopefully, I will get some writing done tonight. All depends on how long this tooth nags me before finally giving into the Ibuprofen.

With no writing completed this week, I think I am going to lay out my goals for the coming weeks. Well, Book 1 of Forbidden Realm is what I am going to write now. With this book, I am going to give myself a soft deadline to complete draft one. Right now, I am aiming for beginning of June, to mid-June. Which means I can extend the deadline twice. I will determine my overall deadline by next week. So look for that in next week’s wrap-up.

I mentioned last week, I am thinking of working on Long Live again. “But Tim, you said you were focusing on developing your Multiverse and then the Gathering series.” I did. However, plans change. I will cover the multiverse in a little bit. For Long Live, I looked over the first part of my outline for Long Live and really need to work on it. One of the problems is the main villain isn’t reveal until the last third of the book. While I do have times where it is revealed what he is doing during the first two-thirds. I am just not sure how well that will work. What I am thinking of doing is looking the villain’s plan and the character. Then bring in my cast of four and figure out their stories and try to interweave the villain’s plan and movements throughout the early book and then have his/her reveal be more like WTF!

I also need to work out the magic systems at play. I know of two, but there could be more. Also, I need to figure out if there are future tails I may want to tell in this world. I have an idea for a series about the discovery of the New World and the formation of America in a fantasy/sci-fi setting. Let’s be honest, it will be fantasy. This world could be perfect to do it. I even drew up a map of this world with a land mass in the south that has no borders, or known inhabitants. Right now, it doesn’t officially exist. However, time will tell. So Long Live is back on the table to develop, here and there. It’s more of a test to see how the development goes and go from there.

The Multiverse is a huge and complex entity. Especially when I add in gods. Which brings me to the Multiverse. I have some interesting ideas for it, but I am come to realize to develop the god’s side of the multiverse, I may actually need to develop a whole different series/multiverse. WHAT! Did I just blow your mind? I know, I felt it. To be honest, I think I even blew a small piece of my own mind, by saying that. Let me explain.

A year ago from this past November, I started a book called the Fall of the God King. It was about two gods at war who took human form to fight. It was supposed to be a prequel kind of, to a larger series of Gods at war over territory. When I originally thought was a series, maybe it’s own multiverse… I just blew your mind again, but not in the way of WOW! That’s Amazing. It’s probably more like, WHAT THE F@*#?! I am confused. Since I started pondering the idea of adding gods at the Multiverse Level, I thought it would be cool to have some multiple dimensions that are unlike anything else. I have planes of existence in my worlds, but Dimensions are more in line with science, sorta.

That’s all I can say about it, without giving away some of my cooler ideas. It’s bugging me right now that I can’t tell you more. Anyway, the point I was getting at is, if I develop this series into other series as a “separate” multiverse, and then when the time comes. Bam! The mirror shattered and you realize that both multiverses are actually one. To do this, I have to treat it like the stuff I already worked on, doesn’t exist. Let things that contradict the happen, you know if I come up with something really cool that would violate the laws of the other multiverse.

I am going ahead like this is something different and see what happens. I think it will be something unique. Beyond that, that’s all I got this week. Check back Friday for Penultimate post in our Sub-Series Military and Law Enforcement. As always, Monday, come back to see how the writing of Pyre is going and if it was an easy transition or a rough one.

Oh, by the way, did anyone notice that more than two goals for the year are crossed off on my Writing Goals for 2017? Check the box to the left….

YES! I surpassed 1.5 million words in completing my second draft. When I get Pyre done, I will be able to add 250,000 words to my total, which is currently at…1,511,868. With 250,000 added to that, I will be at 1,761,868. That’s assuming I hit my 250k word count goal for Pyre (Book one of Forbidden Realm). If I map out Long Live and get that book written this year, I may be able to break 2 million words. Now, that isn’t an official goal, yet!
