Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. The title of this week’s wrap-up explains everything. Between not writing at all last week. I got the weird kind of sick where I felt buzzed like when you drink, but without out the beer. It was a very good feeling. I don’t think I have to say this, but I will anyway. This post is going to be short.

I already mentioned I didn’t write this past week. That’s what annoys me the most.  My only moment of clarity was posting last week’s Wrap-Up. Now I am really behind on writing so I need to make that up this week. I think I am going to set myself a goal this week. Besides having to write at least four days (hopefully all seven) I need to write at least ten thousand words. I think my current goal on my excel word count tracking sheet is 5k. I will have to check.

The only thing I got done this week was some work on Long Live. To help know what I need to develop, I am trying to nail the story down. To do that I needed to get my main character’s motivations down. I only got two done on Saturday before going to see Power Rangers. My two female protagonists were easy to figure. It was my male protagonist not so much. What I was trying to get done based on what the other two wanted, I just felt like I was trying to force certain things to make him fit better with one of the girls.

When I realized this, I stopped and let stew in the back of my mind. The plan was to work on it on Sunday, but that never happened. Lucky for me I as able to crack him his morning at work around 7 AM. With him done I have only two more main characters to figure out and then it is on to the antagonist’s motivations. Once I have the motivations done, it will be figuring out the outline. I can’t say I will finish the motivations this week, but it is my focus when it comes to Long Live at the moment.

As for the God Multiverse, I am making little strides in. They seem to come in spurts. A piece here another there. I can feel something is brewing. What will it be I am not sure, but I do know it will take some time to fully form. I can’t be surprised, I have been think of my Multiverse as one piece for nearly a year and a half. That is a lot of time for ideas to gestate, I have to at least give this new piece some time to simmer in the cauldron of my mind. I will write down ideas as they come and move from there.

That’s all I got today. I swear when I say these posts are going to be short, they turn out longer than I plan. Oh well. Be sure to check back on Friday for our Weekly Craft Post in our ongoing Worldbuilding series. We are focusing on Magic and Technology. It third to last sub-series in that whole series. Yes. The worldbuilding series is coming to an end. When? Only I know.

Welcome to the last two weeks of Weekly Writing Wrap-up. It has been over two weeks since my last actual post (I don’t count posts that say I won’t be posting something). Why haven’t I been posting? That’s a good question. One, I didn’t do much in those two weeks and had nothing to say. I know me, have nothing to say. Ha! Another reason I wasn’t feeling good. Oversleeping and going through withdraw from my latest soda binge, which really means I had soda and energy drinks for few days and stopped. Not to mention fighting off a cold. Then there was being wiped out mentally.

What do I mean by that? I won’t only once, on the 7th. What should have been a shorter scene turned out to be a longer and harder scene to write. Not sure why it was an emotional scene for my POV character but also a dangerous scene as she needed to get out of a not so safe building. Maybe it should have been split up into two chapters or two scenes. I am not sure. After writing that scene I was mentally beat. All desire to write was gone. So I didn’t write. I have yet to write this week, but I plan to change that, once I finish this post.

Maybe I need a break and let my mind ponder on somethings before I could continue. Who knows, but I still don’t feel like writing. Probably because I am still trying to wake up or still trying to fight off a cold. Whatever the reason is, I need to get back on track. Maybe one of the reasons I am struggling is because I am putting too much pressure on myself to get on a schedule to write multiple books in a year, as well to develop other books when I am not even published. It is something I need to consider. Not worry as much on being on that schedule yet and allow more non-writing activities into my life. Only time will tell.

The most important thing I need to do is keep writing. I have enough projects and at a point where I can be writing consistently now. I can always write book two of the Veil trilogy or book 2 of Forbidden Realm. Hell, I could alway go back to Marks of Eilira… No, no I can’t. That series in a terrible mess. While I can continue to develop my other series I don’t need to have another series ready to go by the time I finish my next book. I have other things I can be writing and editing. Maybe I will lighten my load for a little bit and see how that goes.

As for developing, it is official, Long Live is on the God side of the multiverse. While I am trying to figure out that world, I am going to start hammering out the outline as it’s nagging me now. I even wrote out bullets the other day. I took the key events for the four main characters at the beginning of the book. One issue with the old outline is there are too many things happening before getting right to the main conflict. I should say one of the main conflicts of the book. Once I got a good grasp on the story, that will help developing the world better.

That’s all I got to day. Be sure to check back on Friday as we will be starting a new sub-series in our on going Worldbuilding series. This new sub-series will be on Magic and Technology. I am not sure how many posts will be in this topic. I can tell you there will be only two more sub-series after that. If I had to guess it would be three posts in each. Then we will move on to a new series… a much shorter series.

Welcome to this week’s special edition of Weekly plus a Day Writing Wrap-up. Yes, I am late posting this, solely because of yesterday is a Day I don’t Deal with. What day is that? Can’t tell you because that would be dealing with it. Because I didn’t post yesterday, I counted it as part of last week. So let’s dive in.

Why not start with what this week’s post title is called. A Good Start. Yes, I am referring to writing Pyre (Book 1) of the Forbidden Realm Trilogy. How many days did I write? Well, not as many days as I was writing when I finished draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil, which basically every day. Last week, I wrote three days back to back. No, Monday wasn’t one of them. Why? Well, by the time I get home from work, and that includes a good workout, I am mentally tired. Plus, I need to write this post and that uses up any writing I have in me. Funny, that is also the reason why I didn’t write Friday, oh and I have a podcast I do with a friend. Non-Writing Related or I would be posting it here. So three days is a good start and will build on that.

So, three days is a good start and will build on that. I am still getting back into the swing of things. One the first two days was finishing up a chapter that was way longer then I thought, that was at the end of a section. Thursday was starting a new section so momentum changed as I had a different POV character. I almost wrote Saturday, but I decided to use my weekend for some fun stuff instead. Also, I saw Logan, so that was fun. I have already written today, and I already feel like I have a grasp on the section for this POV Character. The real challenge will be when I switch to another POV in two or three chapters. It will be good practice for later in the book when sections are split between two POV characters the come as needed.

Something I tried with draft 1 of Seeing Through the Veil was writing the two POV character sections separately. What I mean is I wrote all the sections for one POV character first and then went back to the beginning and wrote the others. Never doing that again for a first draft. Maybe in a second or third draft, but never in a first draft. I may try that when I am editing Pyre.

Moving on, I don’t have much progress on the Multiverse, as I spent my time writing. However, yesterday I finally sat down and worked on Long Live only to come to the conclusion that, that book takes place in the God’s Multiverse. Oh and I developed a little of one of the magic systems. Not much just a piece. I have a few ideas from that on how my God Multiverse will work. I plan on doing a little work on that this week, even if it is just writing down the ideas. Long Live will continue as my primary focus, and maybe the key to helping me crack the God Multiverse.

Beyond that, I got nothing. Wow, I didn’t mention that this week would be short and I actually got a short posting instead of saying it is going to be short and it turning out not to be. Oh well. Check back on Friday for the final post in our Military and Law Enforcement sub-series in our ongoing Worldbuilding series. The topic afterward I am playing around with is Magic, but I am not sure if it will be that. If I do, it will be Technology and Magic. That’s the other thing over the next two weeks I want to do is finally plan out the rest of the Worldbuilding series so I have an actual end date. I gotta see what I have left to cover.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up, and boy has it been one long week. So, for the last two week’s I haven’t posted a craft post to get the 2nd draft of Seeing Through the Veil completed. Well, those two posts are coming this week as well as the one on Friday. Yes, ladies and gentleman Draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil is done! Before we get to that, let me break down the two craft posts. I was going to post one today, but I am just getting to this wrap-up now. The first post will be tomorrow and the second one on Wednesday. As always our regular post on Friday. Now, let’s get to the heart of the big story this week, my raging toothache on Friday that almost prevented me from completing my draft.

Oh, you thought I was going to go right into completing draft 2. Wrong! The reason why I am talking about my tooth is because on Friday I still had roughly 15 scenes to write and was not going to get any writing done on that day. That left Saturday and just how I am I decided not to write, mostly because I was trying to figure out my tooth. It was better especially after getting Orajel. Yet, I was still distracted by it. Thankfully, Sunday, my tooth was fine and I was able to write.

Speaking of writing Sunday, I wrote over 11k. Yes, over eleven thousand words in one day. The funny part about that is, I got a late start. Once again I got distracted and to be honest, I was sure I wasn’t going to get the draft done. When I started to write I shot through many scenes that I thought would be troubling. The first scene of the day I took two days off to reflect on it. It helped. The rest came along. After getting the big climatic battle over with, I looked at my scene’s list and saw how many scenes I had left, especially in my last section (now the epilogue) and fit three scenes (chapters) into one. I removed a few scenes that I thought are nice, but seem to be a little weak.

Two scenes cut do not sort of flashbacks in the epilogue. Also, the Epilogue is better and really brings things together. I will need to tighten it up when I go through the last half and complete draft 2.1 in a few months. I need a long break from Seeing Through the Veil and I am going to take it with Forbidden Realm. I’ll get to that in a few moments.

The big question is, what is my final word count for the draft? Well, my first draft the word count was 179,299. I said I needed to cut roughly 90,000 words by the final draft. My word count goal for the book is around 85k. That means I needed to quiet a few words in this draft. Well, thanks to the restructuring the story I did back in July, I did just that. I am going to give you two different word counts. The first will be what I have as of yesterday and then I will give you the actual word count for draft 2. Remember The first half is not part of 2.1. I know, I am making this confusing right. My response to that is… IT’S WHAT I DO!

Okay my total words with draft 2.1 in the beginning and draft 2 at the end, is? Drum roll, please… Oh wait, this is text. Okay (Drum Roll!) 117,211. Between the two drafts, I cut out 62,088 words. Now, the total word count for draft 2 is…149,022. (Cue disappointed sound effect). When I add the word count I had at the time I decide to revise and start 2.1 which was 78,163 with the 70,850 I get a total of 149,022. That means I only cut out a total of 30,277 words total in draft two. Not very good when I want to cut ou 90k by the final draft.

I don’t mean this to be my statics post, but I have a few more numbers. My current word count for draft 2.1 is 45,980. Compared this to the 78,163 of the draft 2, I cut out 32,183 in the first part of draft 2.1. If I can find a way to cut even a third (which is 10,728) I will be happy. Though, to get it down to a 100k, I would need to add 6483 words to do that. That means I need to cut more than a third of words from the second half of 2.1 when I go through it. Not too bad and I am sure I will easily do that. To get to 85k, I need to cut 31850 words from the second half. Not going to happen. If I get the second half of draft 2.1 to 100,000 words. I will need to cut just 15,000 more words from the whole manuscript to do that. Not sure if that I will be able to. Maybe with a good editor, I can. Time will tell.

Sorry for all those numbers, but I do love my stats. Moving, Now that I am done with draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil, I can finally go back to book one of Forbidden Realm. Yep, that book is burning to be finished. I had so much fun writing and I am excited to start. However, I am not doing that for at least two more days. I need a break. Let the veil work its way out of my mind and prepare for the new world and magic systems and story. I would like to start by the end of the week, but I may take the whole week. Depends on how I am feeling.

Moving to Development, the Multiverse is going well. However, I seem to come to a crossroads. A, keep some cool ideas I came up with before I went through and re-read the old history of the multiverse and really liked that or try to find a way to use what I came up with in the frame of the old history. I like both options, but I am just not sure. I was going to actually sit down and work on the god side of the multiverse when my tooth started to hurt on Friday.

Clearly, my old history needs to be updated, but I feel like it is the perfect structure for the creation myth. By updating it I can come with some cool ideas on what really happened and how the myth came about. Now that I have some free time this week I will probably play around with this. Though, I am starting to think I may need to start working on the actual story and finding all the key players. Find out what each one wants and how things I have already come up with, but not locked, in work. This may help flesh out things for the god side. I will see how the development goes on the myth and what new ideas come from that. Depending on how that goes I will see what the next step is.

Lastly, I have recently had a desire to work on my Long Live story. It is the only stand-alone novel I have. Everything else is a series. With finishing the 2nd draft of Seeing Through the Veil, and now moving on to Pyre book one of Forbidden Realm. I am looking at what I will write after that. Clearly going through the last half of Seeing Through the Veil to complete draft 2.1 That shouldn’t take that long. That leaves me with a few options. Either book to of the veil series, book two of Forbidden Realm, or something else. I know my goal is to develop The Gathering after I finish developing the Multiverse, but that is another series. What if I took a few weeks and developed Long Live, got the outline completed and scene list and had one more book ready to write.

This is now way me saying that is what I am going to do, but it is an option. I do know in the next few weeks, maybe after I complete draft 2.1. I am going to start updating book 2 in the veil trilogy. Many things have changed and it will need to be updated. That doesn’t mean I will write it this year, just keeping things fresh now, so I have less work when the time comes to write that book. It will be an interesting thought. We shall see.

That’s all I got today. Check back tomorrow for the first of three craft posts in the Military and Law Enforcement sub-series. The topic is Military (& Police) Ranks.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. I was so hoping that this week’s title would be Done! However, it isn’t. I’ll admit, the week didn’t start out that well. I’ll get to that in a minute. Let’s dive into Development first.

I got squat! That was easy. Next!

Okay, just kidding. I didn’t do any development this week. Seeing Through the Veil was more important. I have thought about it and this morning while I was alone for two and a half hours at work from, I thought about the Multiverse as a whole. I am working on the god’s side of the creation of the multiverse, but this morning I thought about everything. One thing I am struggling is not to do take the creation of multiverse from the “practical” side and just make a religious version of it. I want something different. Dealing with gods is making it hard from a practical mind frame. I have some new ideas, but they are going to stew while I finish through Seeing Through the Veil.

Now let’s talk writing. I was all determined to meet this deadline. I wasn’t sure if I wrote every day, I would be able to. I was going to do my best. Then I didn’t write a damn word last Monday. Smack! Back Tim! It was not good, Tuesday I sat down and wrote, Wednesday, same thing. Thursday I called out of work due to a huge storm and that helped. Friday… I planned on writing. Yes, I know. I called off last week’s craft post to have time to work on writing and I didn’t write on Friday.

That drove me Saturday and Sunday to write. Most of those days I was furious with myself thinking if only if I wrote Friday I would make my deadline. When I set down my pen…keyboard yesterday I knew if I wrote Friday I still wouldn’t have made the deadline. That help a little. If I knew I would have finished, I would be smacking my head against something hard. Not making the deadline, means one thing for this week. WRITE UNTIL IT’S DONE! I have 21 scenes left and if I write like I did last week, I will get it done before the weekend. That’s what I am going to do.

Oh, wondering if I wrote last Monday if I would have made it. I thought about that as I started writing this post. The answer is no. I was so tired from work and working out if I did write, it would have been one maybe two scenes. Not enough to make a dent. I would have had to write twenty scenes Friday and that wasn’t going to happen.

Moving to my last thought. I started thinking of deadlines this week. I usually give myself a hard deadline for all drafts. If I learned anything from Seeing Through the Veil, it is I need to change how I do this. While I need a deadline, I am not so sure a hard one works for the first draft. I changed it so many times last year that it’s not funny. So, I am going with more of a time range. Instead of a date, I will have a range of months I want to finish by. For example, when I pick up Pyre Book 1 of Forbidden Realm, I will have a date I want to finish by, most like June. However, if I don’t finish until August that’s fine. The goal is to finish somewhere between June and August. (By no means this my actual target for that book. Just an example.

The goal is to finish somewhere between June and August. (By no means this my actual target for that book. Just an example. This will give me more freedom in my writing, in case something are randomly thrown in my life, like moving across the country for two months and the moving back. It will be the second draft I will give myself a hard date, but with an additional push back date. I only get one of these and I will have to pick it wisely because if I don’t finish by that date, money is coming out of my pocket. Now, I am considering an emergency push back, but I have a feeling I may justify using it when no real emergency happened. Who knows what I am going to do. I am starting to think about it now.

That’s all for this week. I will make up the missed craft post once Seeing Through the Veil is completed. That does mean, I might skip this week, but hopefully, I will be done by Friday.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up, it has been a very long and quick week. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, however, it felt like both. The week dragged but before I knew it, the weekend was here. Oh, well. Not much this week, but let’s dive right in.

Starting off with development. I got some time to sit down and work on the creation myth for the multiverse. It clearly needs some work, but I can feel it in the back of my head that I am very close to getting it. Maybe, I need to work out what actually happened first and then write the myth of how it didn’t. Does that make any sense? Well, it does to me. The pieces are there, just got to figure where they go. I think this is going to be my goal for February on the development side. Get this figured out, however it happens. If it the creation myth or the creation itself and then the myth. Once I have that figured out, I can move on to how gods work into the whole story.

I would like more development done on this, but I find I work better on developing when I am way from my keyboard and go somewhere else. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to go to Starbucks every day. I may try to do some development at home, but it will have to come after I finished draft 2 of Seeing Through the Veil. Speaking of that.

Seven days until my deadline. I still have a lot to do. I achieved my goal of writing five days. Actually, that is how many days I wrote. The two days I didn’t, I could have gotten more scenes done. Oh well, nothing can I do about it now. This week is going to be all about the writing. I have only 42 scenes left to edit. Oh, wait. Some of those scenes I am writing for the first time. Well, since I am doing a complete rewrite it seems, it really doesn’t matter. That’s 6 scenes each day to get done. That’s a lot of writing. It’s been a while since I done that much.

Will I reach my deadline? Right now, I am not that sure. I am already lacking the urge to write. I am going to do my best to try. One of the best things is that my due date is Sunday. First time I have a deadline and it falls on the weekend. Not just falls on the weekend, but I actually have weekend’s off from work and can devote the day to writing. If I can get most of the scenes done in the next five days, I can make up the rest with ease on Saturday and Sunday. I am enjoying the story and really look forward to seeing how it comes out with the new flow.

I am 98.8% sure I will be doing a draft 2.1 with the second half of the book at a later time. The first half of draft two was stopped when I changed the structure of the book and went back and rewrote everything. Now that I am writing the second half that never got written as part of draft 2, I feel like I will need to come back and polish this half as part of 2.1. If I do this, I will be doing it at a later date, more likely after two months off and I have made greater progress with Pyre book 1 of Forbidden Realm Trilogy.

I’m thinking of doing a scene countdown on twitter this week. However, I will have to remember to post it. So I may just do it daily with how many scenes left. You can find me @timrgreenebooks.

That’s all I got this week for the wrap-up. Since NaNoWriMo has ended these wrap-ups are short. Good, I have words to write. Hope everyone had a great writing week and looking forward to another good week. Be sure to check back on Friday’s for our Weekly Craft Post on Worldbuilding. Not on that craft post, there is a small chance that I might not post one this week. It will depend on how well my writing comes. If I don’t I will post around Wednesday if I am going to post it one or not.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. This post is going to be quick. Before I continue, I need to make a correction to last week’s post. I only wrote two days instead of three. I swear I wrote three but all the evidence says otherwise. Anyway, let’s jump into it.

Let’s start with the multiverse. Got nothing done this week on it. Well, nothing officially was written down. An idea did hit me this weekend to try to scavenge anything from my work in the Multiverse before the change in direction. I have a history of the multiverse that is far more heavy on a religious side than the current stuff. I was going to scrape it, but now with trying to throw as much random stuff to help make this multiverse level conflict as big as possible, it may come in handy. It will be interesting to see and while some of the ideas I had for this section still avoid me, I feel like this gives me a starting point. Sure I will be revamping and molding and adding to make it unique and new, and fit what I already have. I am looking forward to it.

I am also starting to write down stories I will need to tell from either side. Not sure if these stories will be full on novel series or a collection of short stories or just flashbacks in another series. This will be important when I start fleshing the actual main conflict.

Moving on, This week I did write three days. I wrapped up another section of Natalie’s. It was only two chapters consisting of two scenes, but important ones. Big hints at what is going on. Originally, it was revealed here, and I may come back after I finish the draft, to add the reveal back in, but for now, I think I am going to push it further on. I did the first scene of Kiana’s new section. With the reveal in the second to the last chapter of her last section, I want to hold off on dealing with that reveal for a few chapters. I made other promises in her last section that need to be handled first. I am slowly getting closer to the end and action is starting to pick up. Can’t wait to see how it comes out.

Final note. Two week’s ago I wrote only two days and this past week three. I want to write every day, but with such a great gap of time off from writing (a month) I want to ease back into. This week, I am aiming for four days. Next week will be five and so on. That is my goal for this week. Write four days. No word count goal, just to write.

That’s all for this week’s wrap-up. Check back on Friday for the next post in our sub-series on Military and Law Enforcement: Limits to Law Enforcement.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up. Why does the weekend fly by so fast and the five other days of the week seem to slug on by? But the next thing you know it’s Friday night. Well, if that didn’t tell you how my week went, just check when I posted last week’s craft post. Yeah, it was late. Anyway, short post today, so let’s get into it.

First I have accomplished one of my goals for 2017. Actually, two, but one wasn’t posted as a goal in my goals for 2017 post. That one was making sure to paste my goals for the year into the side panel, unlike last year. Well, check. The other was I got my schedule done. Funny, I have ignored it so far since I made it. Well, not complete. It has been more of a reminder to do things. I just haven’t done them at the times I put them at. The schedule still needs some tweaking, like adding in posting Craft Post for Friday. It will be work in progress for the next few weeks as I get the flow going forward.

Speaking of tweaks, I have Development on my calendar twice a week right now, it was on there three times. I finally wrapped up a major event that affects the whole multiverse, and can not start to explore some of the other ideas I have been having. Unfortunately, I can’t remember what they are. I know they will come to me, but it just going to take time. While I will continue to develop in some way during this time. I am not sure how some of these new ideas that have been plaguing me will take to refresh and form.

Now on to the writing element, I think the title of this week’s post should tell you how it went. Yes! I wrote three days and finished the section I have been on for months. That felt good. I was hoping to get the next section done since it is like three short chapters. Nope. However, thinking about it, I glad I didn’t. I feel like I need a break a day or two or three to let my mind refresh on and prepare for the next section. That is my goal this week, to complete the next section and try to get a few chapters in the one after. I will say I am about halfway through the novel by the middle of the section that follows the one I am on. Maybe at the end of that section. Anyway, I want to slowly work my way back into writing every day. So, I am aiming for four to five days this week. We will see how it works.

That’s all I got this week, check back on Friday for the next post in our new sub-series in the massive Worldbuilding series, Military, and Police.

Welcome to the first Weekly Writing Wrap-up of 2017. This will be a short one, well because I have been slacking. Let’s dive into it.

Writing, I got one chapter done of editing on Seeing Through the Veil. Boy was it tough. Two-three weeks of not touching it getting back into the flow of the events were touch. Something tells me when I need to spend a little more time on that chapter when I go to polish. Sadly, I only got around to writing yesterday. Not how I would have liked to start 2017 off, but oh well. I plan to finish my new schedule by the end of tomorrow and really stick to it. For the first time in a long time, I have a non-changing work schedule where I can plan around. Seeing through the Veil takes priority.

I may not have gotten much writing done this past week, I did get a little more development on my multiverse. Well, kind of. I got more flow of the events down. What I need to do is wrap up the events I working, because it leads to an important event in my multiverse. From there, I plan to take what I have come up with and really dive into it a little more plunge it into a Scrivener file. Then I will move on to some other elements that I hadn’t planned for. I will look at those ideas and flesh them out and then bring the two together, to see how they might go together. Beyond that, I will keep in mind the main thing everyone one wants and start gathering ideas for the actual plot for the grand master events that are going on. Also, what characters from other series will play larger roles and new characters.

Beyond that, I have nothing else to do. Something new I am going to try this year is to set deadlines okay more like target dates to complete certain things. Like my schedule needs to be done by the end of tomorrow. Seeing Through the Veil I am targeting around February first or second week. Once I get my schedule done and keep to it, I may get the draft done by the end of January, which would be so much better.

Please check back soon as last week Craft post will be posted shortly. Check back on Friday for this week’s Craft Post, we will be starting a new sub-series. Not sure what it is, so stay tuned.

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Writing Wrap-up, the second to last one of 2016. I wasn’t going to post one today, as I got jack done this week. Part of it was from work, other was a nice distraction I bought myself on Friday. So to say this post will be short. There really is only two things I want to talk about: Seeing Through the Veil and Development.

Let’s get Seeing through the Veil out of the way since it is the shorter part. I am considering until I get 2/3 of the second draft done, I will be focusing my writing time that I have on this draft. As much as I love Forbidden Realm, I just don’t have time to work on both. While it is my goal ultimately to be b writing a new book while editing another a developing a new on all at the same time. Working just doesn’t allow me to do this. Yet! Once I get further into my new schedule of work, and not bone tired after I get done each day, I should and will be able to come up with a better schedule where I can do at least part of this. Maybe I edit one day and write something new the next. Who knows. I haven’t completely decided to do this, but it is every strong possibility I will. I am going to give it a try this week to see how it goes.

Okay, now that I got Seeing through the Veil out of the way, my last piece I want to cover is development. I purposely left out what I am developing. If you’re new, I have many series in the works and several are more of revamping than developing for the first time. Seeing Through the Veil was my first novel I ever wrote back in 2005. Pyre book 1 of Forbidden Realm Trilogy is part of my longest developing project ever. A project I started back in 2000. The Gathering is probably my fifth longest developing project, I came up with the idea back in 2009? Hold on, let me go check when Disney Channel’s TV movie of the Wizards of Waverly Place came out…

Yep, 2009. Yes, I got the original idea after watching that movie. No, it is nothing like that show. Just took a concept from the movie and making it my own. Moving on. I started to develop The Gathering again, from the ground up and breaking down what I already have to rework and completely ignore and make new. That makes sense right? Well, it does to me. I made progress on this, but I have seemed to hit a blockade. After realizing this is not a trilogy but a Cycle (Four books, see Inheritance Cycle. You know the one with dragon riders.) Not to go into the new direction, I have no clue or idea for three of the four books other than the base idea. This isn’t a bad thing, it will come to me. It just seems to come at a time where ideas a flowing just not for this series.

That brings me to the other series I am developing. It was more of a background development. I sit down every now and then to work on little pieces. It is my Narthex/Cosmaverse/Vensania/Cluster or my multiverse.
img_0394 img_0395 This is the notebook I am writing out everything in. I should say figuring it out, as just because I write it in here doesn’t mean it is how it is going to work. Actually, the first 12 pages are old ideas that have now been reworked. However, one page actually got reorganized with all the same information, just a little different. However, thanks to this I was able to discover the direction. Back on topic.

The ideas for what I am currently calling my Cluster in my Multiverse has been really working in the background. As Brandon Sanderson likes to call the story going on in the cosmere behind the scenes, this is my “Master Plan”. I would love to know the story going on in the background before I get too many books developed. I am not too worried about it I know that my brain is working out the pieces to have things already developed work without having to change things. Actually, it is because of the way the Veil series has been revamped and another series that will pop up down the line have developed is the reason why for the change of the direction. That tells me that my old ideas for my multiverse were good, but not how they were supposed to be.

Yes, I do believe my mind knows exactly how the story of the Cluster is and how all my storyworlds will work in it. They will either have a major role or a minor role or both. No I don’t see it as divine providence, but yes I do see it as there is the only way it will work and my subconscious mind has yet to let me in on everything. It is possible this is because it hasn’t completely figured out how it will all work together. I know that sounds like a giant paradox. Let me put it another way. My subconscious knows the story, it maybe still working on how it all works together. Yeah, that’s far better way of putting it. It’s that or my subconscious has it all figured out and is just revealing it to me in pieces. Either way I am good.

Okay, this post is far longer then I thought it would be. To get to my point, I am going to take a break from the Gathering and work more on my Cluster story (god, I hope I can come up with a better name for this multiverse than cluster, it just fits very well with what I know about the story now. )

Wow, that was alot. That’s all I got today. No Craft post for the next two weeks. Check back next Monday for my Year in Review post and the first Writing Wrap-up of 2017 in two weeks where I will post my new goals for the year.
